With a 4.5-gallon capacity, the Imperial Berkey® provides substantially more stored water than smaller Berkey® systems while maintaining simple operation without electricity, plumbing, or water pressure.

Constructed from highly polished AISI 304 stainless steel, the Imperial Berkey® combines capacity, durability, and an expandable filter configuration in a system designed for everyday use.

The current configuration includes 2 Black Berkey® Elements and can accommodate up to 6 compatible primary filter elements.

*Due to state regulations, this product is not available for sale in California or Iowa.

Designed for Larger Daily Water Usage

The Imperial Berkey® is well-suited to households and workplaces that use filtered water throughout the day for drinking, cooking, coffee, tea, and for filling reusable water bottles.

  • 4.5-gallon storage capacity
  • Manufacturer everyday-use guidance for approximately 4–8 people
  • Reduced refill frequency compared with smaller Berkey® systems
  • Useful for shared kitchens, offices, and larger households
  • Expandable to as many as 6 compatible primary filter elements

For customers who want more capacity than the Royal Berkey® but do not need the 6-gallon Crown Berkey™, the Imperial Berkey® offers a strong balance of capacity, footprint, and expandable flow.

How the Imperial Berkey® Works

The Imperial Berkey® uses gravity to move water from the upper chamber through the installed primary filter elements. Filtered water collects in the lower chamber and is dispensed through the spigot.

No electricity, plumbing, water pressure, or permanent installation is required.

Included Black Berkey® Elements

The current Imperial Berkey® configuration includes 2 Black Berkey® Elements and can accommodate up to 6 compatible primary elements.

Independent Black Berkey® laboratory documentation reports reduction performance for a range of drinking-water substances, including selected heavy metals, chlorine-related compounds, VOCs, pharmaceuticals, petroleum-related compounds, particulates, and other substances under the documented test conditions.

Because Black Berkey® Elements are not designed as a reverse-osmosis or demineralization system, ordinary dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium generally remain in the water.

A pair of Black Berkey® Elements has a manufacturer-recommended replacement interval of up to approximately 6,000 gallons under stated conditions. Actual service life may be shorter depending on source water quality and use.

Replacement-filter note: This Imperial Berkey® configuration currently includes Black Berkey® Elements. When replacement elements are eventually needed, review the replacement options available at that time. Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are currently compatible with the Imperial Berkey® and are the primary replacement option available through normal authorized U.S. distribution.

For current compatibility information, visit our Replacement Filters Guide.

Optional PF-2™ Fluoride & Arsenic Reduction Elements

The Imperial Berkey® can accommodate up to 6 optional PF-2™ Fluoride & Arsenic Reduction Elements when used with compatible primary filter elements. Install one PF-2 for each compatible primary element.

Good water

The water in town is not very good, and the fridge filter is not a reliable source of clean water. Looking for a better, clean water source, we recently purchased a Berkey because we know others with a Berkey and trusted the quality.

Outstanding decision! The water tastes good, the tank actually holds a lot more water than we anticipated, and it's super easy to use.

Highly recommend the Berkey Imperial for families wanting a better water source. This is the perfect size for our active family of 5, including two teenage boys.

I love my Berkey

This is the best water system… the water is so fresh and crisp! I’m so glad I finally got one!

Great filter

We bought some property deep in the East Texas forest. We drilled a well for water, but wanted to have a very clean source for drinking. Our daughter has had one for years and we were familiar with the operation and quality. We did buy extra filters as being a new well, the sediment levels have not flushed out completely. But for my wife and I, we love it.

Very happy so far

I bought the Imperial Berkey to meet the needs of my family. I particularly like it because it is not powered by electricity and by filling it once per day it provides enough filtered water for my family for that day. I recently ordered the sight spigot because it makes it much easier to gage how much water to put in at any time--we had an overflow the first time we filled it. (It would be nice if the sight spigot came with the system.) So far, I haven't cleaned the filters yet but have watched a video about how to do it. The videos help a lot in the set up and I will be depending on a video to get me through a filter cleaning too.

We love our Berkey. My 11 year old was able to assemble it for us. We love how good the water tastes and it's better for the environment than all those water bottles people think they need to buy for clean water.

Exactly what I needed.

Berkey was recommended to me by my daughter. I was filling my 2 qt filtered pitcher 4 to 5 times a day. Love the Berkey but wish it had a viewing window to prevent overfilling.

Excellent product and even if blemished

This Berkey water filter is in no way functionally different from unblemished filters. Operations is the same and warranty is the same. Cost is spot on for the product received.

My Berkey Water Filter

I purchased this Berkey water filter for emergencies. It doesn't get much use right now, but when the power goes out and the water pump doesn't work then my shallow dug well and the Berkey filter will be worth it's weight in gold.

Love my Berkey

great 👍!

We love our Berkey!!!

We use this for our well water. We have a whole house filter with a softener, but with the berkey, we are able to filter out everything and the water tastes great. My only complaint is that we do not know when we will hit the 6000 gallon point with our filters. There is no way of knowing this unless you keep count of how many times you refill. Still also wondering if it chelates silver in the water, but cannot seem to get an answer on that.
